TCAD and device modeling

TCAD simulation and device modeling for semiconductor engineers.

Po.Li.Te gives you TCAD software and the engineers who know it. We model your device, calibrate the model on your measurements and hand you a setup you can rerun. VCSELs, photodetectors, SPADs, CMOS and power devices.

Engineering solutions

From a question about your device to a number you can use.

Use the software alone, or work with us when you need the answer faster than your team can build the model.

S

Device simulation studies

You describe the device and the question. We deliver the I-V, C-V, gain, light output, responsivity or breakdown curves, with the physics behind them.

C

Model calibration

We fit the model to your measurements and tell you which parameters the data really constrain, so the simulator becomes a tool you can trust.

O

Design optimization

Sweeps over doping, geometry, layers and temperature, run as whole campaigns, to find the design that meets your specification.

X

Custom models and solvers

A physical effect that your current tool does not capture? We build it into Aurora, our drift-diffusion solver, or couple it with optical and thermal solvers.

F

Automated workflows

Flow, our workspace with a local AI agent, turns a study into a repeatable workflow. Your team reruns it in minutes.

T

Training and workshops

Hands-on courses on TCAD, drift-diffusion and VCSEL or photodetector modeling for your engineers, from the authors of the methods.

Devices

Which devices do we simulate?

Anything where carriers, light and heat interact. Aurora solves drift-diffusion with quantum corrections in 1D, 2D and 3D, and Flow couples it to optical and thermal solvers.

Checked against a commercial solver

Same devices, same physics, same meshes. A MOSFET matches within 1.5% over eight decades of current. An infrared II-VI pixel matches within 1% in responsivity up to the cutoff.

How it works

Four steps, and the files are yours.

1

Brief

You send the device and the question. A short call, no commitment.

2

Model

We build the structure and the physics, and calibrate on your data when you have it.

3

Results

You get curves, maps and a short report that answers the question.

4

Handover

You receive the input files and, if you want, a Flow workflow to rerun the study.

Questions

TCAD with Po.Li.Te: frequently asked questions.

What is TCAD?

TCAD, technology computer-aided design, is the numerical simulation of semiconductor devices. It solves the equations for carriers, electric field, light and heat to predict how a device behaves before it is built.

What does Po.Li.Te offer?

TCAD software for semiconductor devices (the Aurora drift-diffusion solver, optical and thermal solvers, and the Flow workspace with a local AI agent) and engineering services: simulation studies, model calibration, optimization, custom models and training.

Which devices can you model?

VCSELs, photodetectors, infrared II-VI pixels, SPADs and avalanche photodiodes, MOSFETs and CMOS, power devices, tunnel junctions and cryogenic electronics, in 1D, 2D and 3D.

Can Aurora replace my current TCAD tool?

For drift-diffusion studies of the devices above, Aurora has been compared point by point with a commercial drift-diffusion solver, with agreement within a few percent. We can run your own test case so you can check it yourself.

Does it run on my own machine?

Yes. Flow and the solvers run locally, so your device data stays with you. An EU cloud option is available for large campaigns.

Where is Po.Li.Te based?

In Turin, Italy. The team comes from the VCSEL and semiconductor modeling group of Politecnico di Torino, with more than twenty years of experience in the field.
